The Padres and the Tigers played to a 5-5 tie when their Milford International Majors Division game was called in the fifth inning because of darkness on April 29.
Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Padres mounted a comeback led by Danny Cartagena, Chris Kiley, Will Diamantis, Evan Broderick and Tanner Lucy.
Chris Kiley and Will Diamantis provided strong pitching support and combined on 13 strikeouts.
Padres 8, Angels 4
It was a great team effort that lead to an 8-4 Padres’ win against the Angels on May 1.
The Padres were anchored by superb pitching efforts by Joey Matrician and Mia Tunucci, with Tunucci getting the win by closing out the sixth with the bases loaded.
Chris Kiley and Matt Gilebbi provided stellar support catching and keeping runners at bay and the entire team had a solid defensive effort.
Mason Barret, Will Diamantis, Danny Cartagena and Matrician each contributed two hits each. Gilebbi’s triple in the fifth was a game changer.
