Milford defeats Oxford, 8-2

The Milford Golden Thunder 8U baseball team responded to their first loss of the Beth-Wood Tournament and of the postseason in solid fashion with an 8-2 rain shortened victory over Oxford on Monday night at John Francis Field.

Lou Lozada’s lead-off home run in the bottom of the first sparked the locals to a six-run inning.

Bolstered by their solid fielding and depth, the locals were able to keep the visitors in check.

Offensively, Milford was led by Lozada, Declan Wywoda, Steven Witteman, Matthew Galligan, William LeCuyer, Ryan Giambra and Jake Stash.

In the field, they were bolstered by the play of Alex Rodriguez, Jackson Grzywacz, Jack Thomas, Andre Peterson, Ben Britto, Matthew Stevens and Cal Wrigley.

With the win Milford moves to 5-1 in the Beth-Wood American Division and 10-1 overall this postseason.

Milford will be in action again Thursday night at 6 in Newtown and will be playing the Orange All-Stars on Friday night in Orange.
