Matthew Fehmel, a fourth grader at Orange Avenue School, who plays for the Milford Hunters Blue Jays in the Farm Division, has advanced to the Scotts Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run team championship to be held at Yankee Stadium on June 11.

Fehmel’s score from among 80 participants at the Sectionals event hosted by Fairfield American Legion baseball League on May 21 at Longfellow Field in Bridgeport was in the top three out of all the Sectional events held in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Fehmel now has the chance to compete in one of the 30 National Finals events held in all 30 MLB ballparks.

The top three scores in each division age group out of all 30 MLB team championships will advance to the National Finals held All-Star weekend in Miami.

Pitch, Hit and Run is the Official Skills Competition of Major League Baseball.
