In an inter-league game, the Milford International Little League Angels defeated the Milford National/Lou Gehrig Angels by the score of 13-9.
The MNLG Angels took a one-run lead in the first when Owen Fisher drove in Zack Merchant with a RBI single.
In the home half of the inning, the MILL Angels took a 4-1 with Andrew Janik, Bryan Pepe and James Dalby driving in Scott Clark, Rich Piscitelli, Janik and Pepe.
The MILL Angels scored three more in the second inning to take a 7-1 lead.
The MNLG Angels rallied and scored three in the third to make it a 7-4 game, and four more in the fourth to take the lead 8-7.
Tim Jaglal and Jon Vitale reached base on a single and a double and Merchant followed with a home run to deep center field.
Brian Robertson singled and would also score.
Merchant was 3-for-4 on the day with a double, home run and four RBIs.
In the bottom of the third, the MNLG Angels’ Vitale made a superb defensive play doubling up the MILL base runner at first after making a diving catch in short left.
The MILL Angels came right back in their half of the fourth, scoring four runs of their own making it an 11-8 game.
Piscitelli led off with a triple to the gap in right-center field, followed by a towering two-run home run by Clark to the opposite field.
Janik and Pepe also reached on hits and were driven in by Jason Olexovitch and Lucas Burgard.
Clark would homer again in the bottom of the fifth to deep center field and Janik, who was 4-for-4 on the day with four RBIs and four runs scored, would also score to make it a 13-8 game.
The MNLG Angels would score again in the top of the sixth, before Clark closed the game for the MILL Angels securing their third win on the season.
Junior Major League
The Milford Junior Major League Rookie Braves were in action vs the Rangers for both teams opening game.
The Braves were paced offensively by William LeCuyer 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Matthew Sissick 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Logan Harriman 2-for-3, Luis Lozada 2-for-3, four RBIs and Kevin Chen.
Defensively the Braves were bolstered by the performances of LeCuyer (2B, SS), Lozada (1B, 3B), Sissick (3B, CF), Ruby Moretti (LF, 3B), Michael Smith (SS), PJ Fiallos (RF, P), James Cavallaro ( P, CF), Caleb Jordan (CF, P), Chen (C, 1B) and Harriman (OF, C).
The game ball was awarded to Ruby Moretti.
The Braves next met the Braves in what was a highly competitive game on both sides.
The Braves were led at the plate by William LeCuyer 3-for-3, Luis Lozada 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, Logan Harriman 2-for-3 and Michael Smith 2-for-3 with a triple.
In the field the Braves were solid led by LeCuyer (2B, CF, C), Lozada (1B, 2B, LF), Matthew Sissick (3B, CF), Smith (SS, CF), Harriman (C, LF), Kevin Chen (3B, C), Ruby Moretti (SS, LF), PJ Fiallos (RF, 3B) and Caleb Jordan (CF, P, 2B).
The game ball was awarded to Luis Lozada for his performance both at the plate and in the field.
Milford International softball
The Candido Electric Thundercats defeated the Barracudas, 6-3, in Milford International Farm Division softball action on May 8.
Madison Lula and Courtney Hanson had two singles and an RBI for the Thundercats.
For the Barracudas, Morgan Viesselman and Anna Paul had a single and a RBI.
The Thundercats defeated the Flash in a 7-6 nail-biter on May 10, led by a two-run single from Gina Brienza, who also pitched three innings.
Kelsy Simlar had two hits with two RBIs and Ava Candido went 3-for-3 and scored three runs.
The Barracudas defeated the Red Ravens, 5-2, on May 10.
For the Barracudas, Mary Grace Weissauer had two hits and struck out six batters in two innings of pitching.
Morgan Viesselman had two hits and two RBIs.
For the Red Ravens, Lucia Pino went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Katie Konereski pitched three innings.
