Indians edge Pirates in Minor Division baseball

The Indians defeated the Pirates, 5-4, in recent Junior Major League Minor Division baseball action.

The Pirates came out swinging in the first with Cody Dineson’s RBI triple followed by an RBI single by Jake Stash putting them up 2-0.

Anthony Brassell delivered an RBI double followed by another RBI from Dineson in the the fifth inning for a 4-2 lead.

The Pirates turned three double plays in the game and Declan Wywoda pitched 2.2 scoreless innings.

Dineson and Jake Stash pitched the rest of the game.

Despite a double in the first inning by Kian McEnerny, the Indians were held scoreless until the third when Cal Wrigley hit an RBI single to make it 2-1.

McErnerny slugged an inside the park home run  to tie the game at 2 in the fourth inning.

Down 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Jason Cruz singled to right field on a 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded to plate the winning runs.

Cruz pitched 2.2 innings, striking out six batters.

Liam Fedigan came in to relieve Cruz and pitched through the fifth inning, striking out two batters and allowing the Pirates their final two runs.

McErenery came in in the sixth and shut the Pirates down, striking out the three batters he faced.
