Golden Thunder win Beth-Wood World Series title

The Beth-Wood Friendship Tournament is comprised of 18 teams broken down into an American and National League.

After going 7-1 in American League play, the Milford Junior Major League 8U Golden Thunder completed its season long goal with a win in the Beth-Wood World Series.

Milford defeated Newtown Blue 17-2, Oxford 16-1, Woodbury 9-2 in the semifinals (avenging its only loss in league play) and finally  Newtown Gold 18-3 to claim the state-wide tourney title.

Manager Adam Stash said, “All the hours of practice paid off for this special squad. I could not have asked for a better group of kids and coaches. We came to play every game and our boys represented Milford JML with class and sportsmanship.”

Milford wrapped up its tournament and summer season with an overall record of 20-2, winning both the Carl Burdick Coach Pitch Tournament along with the Beth-Wood World Series championship.

The team was managed by Stash and he was assisted by coaches Mike Wywoda, Duane Galligan, Dave Rodriguez, Steve Giambra, Steve Stevens and Matt Schoonmaker.

Team members were Declan Wywoda, Jake Stash, Will LeCuyer, Steve Witteman, Alex Rodriguez, Andre Peterson, Cal Wrigley, Jackson Gryzwacz, Matthew Stevens, Matthew Galligan, Jack Thomas, Ben Britto, Ryan Giambra, Justin Gentallan and Lou Lozada.
