The Milford Recreation Department is currently taking application for referees and scorekeepers for its 2013-14 Youth Basketball League season.

To be considered for a referee position you must be at least 21 years of age and have an extensive knowledge of the rules of basketball.

Scorekeepers are eligible at 15 years of age, and must have a strong knowledge of the game of basketball.

Referees are responsible for obtaining their own referee jersey, black slacks and whistle. Referees receive $20 to $25 dollars per game.

Officials are typically two-man crews and are typically scheduled to work a minimum of two games per evening. Although a minimum number of games is never guaranteed.

All new and returning referees are required to attend the mandatory league training on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 6:30 p.m at the Parsons Complex Gymnasium.

Scorekeepers receive $8.25 ($8.70 as of Jan. 1) per game and are typically scheduled to work a minimum of two games per evening. Existing scorekeepers will train new scorekeepers during live games for which both will be paid.

Both scorekeeper and referee applications should be submitted with a cover letter that includes a description of your basketball experience.

Applicants may apply in person at the Milford Recreation Department or download the application at milfordrecreation.com.
