The MADD DASH 5K will be held at Short Beach in Stratford on Aug. 16.
Co-sponsored by the Town of Stratford and the Stratford Police Department, this is the 25th year that the race, in the memory of Caryn Eng and all victims of alcohol related crashes, will be hosted by the Fairfield County Chapter of MADD.
Register online at hiteracing.com/madd. Directions are available at that site. DRI FIT shirts will be given to all pre-registered runners and the first 100 on race day.
The adult pre-registration fee of $23 should be mailed to MADD Connecticut, 317 Foxon Road, East Haven, CT. 06513. It must arrive by Aug. 10. The 18U pre-registration fee is $15. The race day fee for those 19 and older is $28. Teams (three person minimum) do not need to pre-register.
The 3.1 mile run along the shoreline at Short Beach will start at 9 a.m. The 2-mile walk begins at 8:50 a.m.
Race and Kid’s Run registration starts at 7:30, with the Kid’s Run for ages 11 and under and non-competitive beginning at 8:20. The fee is $8.
5K registration ends at 8:45 with the race, with bib race timing, starting at 9 a.m.
Team trophies will be presented for Police, Fire, Boys and Girls Middle and High School Divisions, as well as individual awards.
