Hot COCO 5K
The 4th annual Hot COCO 5K and Kids Fun Run takes place Saturday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. on the paved Linear Trail at Cheshire’s Norton School.
The race benefits Abilities Without Boundaries, formerly known as Cheshire Occupational & Career Opportunities, Inc. (COCO).
JB Sports, coordinator of the Stratton Faxon New Haven Road Race and Branford Road Race, organizes the event.

The event begins at 10 a.m. with the Kids Fun Run and the 5K beginning immediately after the Kids Run finishes.

Abilities Without Boundaries provides opportunities in the community through employment and social experiences for people with developmental disabilities.
Charlie Conway, Executive Director, said: “The event increases awareness of our organization and the money raised allows Abilities Without Boundaries to continue to be a positive part of people’s lives.”
Organizers expect a record crowd of 800 participants for the Hot COCO 5K.
There will be a post-race party, featuring entertainment, food, beverages, children’s activities and awards ceremony.
Live music will be provided, courtesy of the band Guy Malone.
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female 5K finishers and the first male and female finisher over 40.
Awards are given to top age-group finishers, and all those completing the Kids Fun Run receive an award ribbon.
Technical running shirts to the first 500 registered 5K runners.
Cotton t-shirts will be given to all Kids Fun Run entrants.
B Tag timing, the state-of-the-art timing system is used at the race.
Event Chairman, Dr. Lloyd Saberski, said: “We are running in Cheshire for our fourth year in an effort to sensitize the community to the prevalence of disability in Cheshire, and to highlight that service providers like Abilities Without Boundaries are essential and worthy of everyone’s support throughout Cheshire and its surrounding areas.”
