Free ice fishing classes hosted by the Department of Environmental and Energy Protection in conjunction with the Milford Recreation Department will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 155 of the Margaret Egan Center, 35 Matthew Street, Milford.

State certified and insured fishing instructors will teach everything you need to know to give ice fishing a try.
Topics include ice safety, equipment and how to use it, understanding where to find fish and fish identification.
Upon completion of the course, students will be welcome to join two DEEP sponsored ice fishing derbies. The classes are free and the field trips are also free to all state residents.
Pre-registration is required so that instructors may prepare materials.
