City crowns rec softball champions
The Milford Recreation Department has wrapped up its adult softball season with the following results.
Bag’s Softball completed a perfect season by sweeping a best two-out-of-three series from Crush/Citrus/CT Volvo/Mazda to win the Daniel S. Wasson City of Milford Men’s Open Division championship.
Bag’s Softball, the top seed, advanced with a 17-3 win over eighth-seeded On the Rocks before edging fifth-seeded Anthony D’s, 17-16, in the semifinals.
Anthony D’s had defeated fourth-seeded 88 Stitch, 10-4.
Crush/Citrus was seeded third and knocked off sixth-seeded Anthony D’s Longshots, 6-2, before winning a 3-2 decision from second-seeded Candido Electric/Crush/On the Rocks in the semis.
Candido had advanced with a 9-4 win over seventh-seeded Dr. Energy Saver.
Top-seeded Connect Computer defeated second-seeded Milford Markets Shop Rite, 12-7, to win the Tim Rose Memorial Women’s Tournament city title.
CC defeated fifth-seeded Advanced Home Audio/OAH 13-10 in the semis, while MMSR topped third-seeded King’s Court, 21-3.
Advanced Home Audio defeated fourth-seeded Keep It Clean, 5-4, in the first round.
Top-seeded Bridgeport Lumber defeated second-seeded Tony’s Auto, 9-2, to win the Coed Recreation playoff title.
BPT advanced with a 13-2 win over eighth-seeded Center Auto and added a victory over fourth-seeded OAH Ballbreaks in the semis.
Center Auto had defeated ninth-seeded AMF Alleygators, 19-18, in the first round.
Tony’s topped 10th-seeded C&W Center/Cut Tool, 13-3 before ousting third-seeded It’s 5 O’Clock in the semis.
C&W had advanced with an 8-5 win over seventh-seeded He/She Wannabes.
Fifth-seeded Kondor Construction defeated 12th-seeded Riverdogs, 9-6, before losing to OAH.
Sixth-seeded Sticks ‘N Chicks advanced past 11th-seeded Ant D’s Heat before losing 12-2 to It’s 5 O’Clock.
Woodmont Pizza/Harborview/Kimberly defeated Green Team, 13-8, to win the Men’s Recreation Division title.
Third in the Northern Division, WPHK defeated the Clippers and Topside/Liquor Connection before knocking off South champ Anthony D’s Seadogs, 16-7, and East champ Zuppardi’s Apizza, 12-1, to gain the final.
Green Team, the West Champ, defeated CoddingtonHI/AC Electric, CT Fire Protection Friars and North champ Viscuso Motors to make the title game.
MFD Fabricating defeated BKM Bombers 10-6 to win the Industral Recreation Division title.
Seeded fifth, MFD Fabricating knocked off fourth-seeded ADP, 11-7 and eighth-seeded Warnaco, 21-11, to move to the final.
Seeded second, BKM Bombers defeated seventh-seeded Frog Pond and third-seeded Turner Construction to advance.
Turner had defeated sixth-seeded EDR, 10-9, while Warnaco had defeated top-seeded OSDA 14-3.
Women’s Western rec
Top-seeded Design Techniques defeated third-seeded Milford Land Title, 11-1, to earn the crown.
Design had advanced with a win over fourth-seeded King’s Court Jester, which had upended fifth-seeded 7 Seas Restaurant.
Milford Land Title defeated sixth-seeded AMF Alleygators and then second-seeded Alfa Pizza Restaurant in the semis.
Women’s Eastern rec
Subway, seeded third, defeated fourth-seeded Anthony D’s Bar & Grille for the title.
Subway advanced with a 5-3 win over second-seeded Matties Service Center, while Anthony’s defeated top-seeded Coppola Realtors, 7-6.
Anthony’s opened with a 6-4 win over fifth-seeded Gippers/Complete Connections.
Men’s Over 60
Second-seeded Gabes/My Favorite Place defeated top-seeded Anthony D’s Dinos, 21-15 to win the title.
Gabes had advanced with a win over third-seeded 7 Seas Restaurant, while Anthony D’s had defeated fourth-seeded Blanchettes Sporting Goods.
Men’s Over 50 American
M & H Advisors, the top seed, defeated third-seeded MTI Relics, 14-4, to win the title.
M & H had advanced with an 11-5 win over The Phantoms, after the fourth seed had knocked off fifth-seeded Ale House Seniors.
MTI defeated second-seeded Ale House Masters, 17-13, in the semis.
Men’s Over 50 National
Third-seeded Anthony D’s/Edge defeated top-seeded Hard Hat Cafe, 16-10, to win the title.
Anthony D’s defeated second-seeded Original Relics in the semis, while Hard Hat defeated fourth-seeded Astro Moving.
