Stratford scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat Milford Post 196, 5-3, on Wednesday night in the first game of a Zone II doubleheader at Penders Field.

Zach Piroh drove in Connor Anstis with the go-ahead run on a double to the fence in right field, while Sam Breiner delivered an insurance run with a single to left.

Tim Leveen (4-0) retired the side in order in the bottom of the ninth to nail down the victory for Stratford (17-2). Milford was the home team in the opening game of the doubleheader, as the teams contest at Walker Field scheduled for last night was postponed until today.

Rob Griswold had three hits for Post 196 (9-9), while Evan Carolla added an RBI single.

Breiner led Post 42 with three hits, while Brian Valeriano and Piroh each had two hits.
