Stonehill College, ranked fourth overall in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Regional Poll, earned a 4-2 victory over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Northeast Division action on Tuesday afternoon at Lou Gorman Field.
Sophomore left-handed pitcher Zach Soulier out of Jonathan Law picked up his fourth triumph of the season (4-0) on six-and-one-thirds innings pitched, six hits, two runs (one earned), no walks and four strikeouts.
Bentley threatened in the sixth inning with runners on second and third with one out, but Soulier induced a 3-5-2 double play to end the frame.
Soulier and senior Michael White combined to give up one hit over the next three innings and did not allow a runner to advance into scoring position to wrap up Stonehill’s fifth-straight win.
Stonehill (19-9, 7-3 NE-10, 4-1 Northeast Division) hosts Assumption tomorrow in a NE-10 contest beginning at 3:30 p.m.
