Softball triple-header at DeLuca
The area’s best softball will be on display Saturday, May 12 at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field in Stratford.
Jeff Babineau, head softball coach of St. Joseph High in Trumbull has put this day together, along with his wife Donna and the St. Joseph High Athletic Association, in memory of their daughter Erin, who passed away in 2005 at the young age of 10.
Erin was an excellent softball player at the time of her death, and would have been a senior at Bunnell High this year.
The game slate is exceptional: Masuk of Monroe takes on Lauralton Hall of Milford at 3 p.m., Trumbull plays St. Joseph at 5, and the nightcap has town rivals Stratford versus Bunnell.
All proceeds will benefit the Erin Babineau Memorial Fund Inc, which is a 501 (c) 3 non profit. The fund most recently completed a 14,000 square foot indoor turf field known as Erin’s Gym on the Sterling House property in Stratford.
It is being gifted back to the town and the Sterling House Community Center.
One price for all three games will be $5 adults and $3 seniors/students, under 8 are free.
