Meade named NBA scout

Joseph Meade, Assistant Academic Program Manager for Sport Management at Post University, was recently named the Northeast Region College Scout for the NBA’s Utah Jazz basketball team.
Meade, who resides in Milford with his wife Soledad and their three children, was hired in 2010 to teach in Post University’s Sport Management degree program, which is offered on the University’s Waterbury campus and in an accelerated online format.
He is a former high school and college basketball coach, who began his coaching career at Salesian High School in New Rochelle, N.Y. He spent six years at Lehman College (City University of New York), where he earned the CUNY Coach of the Year honors in 1996, leading his team to the conference finals and an ECAC postseason bid.
Meade also coached at the University of New Haven and Southern Connecticut State University as an assistant from 1999 to 2002.
Meade earned his Bachelor’s degree in marketing from St. Thomas Aquinas College and his Master’s degree in sport management from The United States Sports Academy in Alabama.
“That’s where I met Dennis Lindsey, the new General Manger for the Jazz,” Meade said. “Dennis and I became friends and he offered me this scouting opportunity when he accepted his new position.
“I keep telling my students at Post that it’s all about education and networking and I am living proof of that.”
Meade is a retired New York City Transit police officer.
