The Foran High girls basketball team dropped a 65-34 decision to visiting Hamden High on Friday night at Fraser Gymnasium in an SCC interdivision matchup. The Green Dragons jumped out to an early 17-2 lead after the first quarter, limiting Foran to just a putback from Viktoria Notholt. Hamden expanded that advantage to 38-6 at the break, before Lauren Notholt converted an offensive rebound early in the third quarter for Foran's first basket in nearly 17 minutes. Trailing 57-14 at the end of the quarter, the Lions outscored 20-8 in the final frame. Lauren Notholt and Viktoria Nothlot scored 10 points apiece to pace Foran, while Zinnia Hall chipped in with six points. "They battled," Foran head coach Bob Asmussen said of the Notholts. "They did a great job on the boards." Taniyah Thompson led Hamden (2-0) with a game-high 14 points, while Makaela Johnson had 12 and Tahjai Mazyck 11. Foran, which fell to 0-2, returns to action on Monday night with a road game at Cheshire High (1-0) at 7.
