Two of the state’s top 10 teams met when Foran High took on the host Mustangs at the Fairfield Warde Duals on Friday.
Coach Dave Esposito’s No. 9 ranked Lions defeated Newtown (55-18) and Enfield (63-12) handily.
Warde, ranked No. 4, topped Foran 39-34.
The Lions’ middle to upper weights did well.
Tyler Stanko staked Foran to a 6-0 lead with a pin in 1:32 at 138 pounds.
James Carlson won a 6-3 decision at 152 and K.J. Pokornowski pinned in 3:34 at 160.
Pat Brogan, by 3:54 fall at 182, and Nolan Bannon, with a 1:15 pin at 195, made it 27-12 Lions.
Warde won the next four weight classes, three by fall to go ahead 33-27.
Kyle Pokornowski won a 13-2 major decision at 120 pounds and Jordan Lang moved to 132, where he won 9-2.
Foran dominated in its two victories.
At 106 pounds, Anthony DiPietro had pins in 48 seconds and 1:17.
Kyle Pokornowski at 120 pounds won in 48 seconds versus Newtown and by 13-7 decision against Enfield.
Lang pinned in 38 seconds at 126 pounds in the Newtown match.
Mike Melillo at 132 pounds pinned in 1:39 versus Enfield.
Stanko won by 2:47 fall against Enfield.
At 145 pounds, Ethan Edmondson scored an 8-3 decision and a 1:48 win by fall.
K.J. Pokornowski earned a 15-0 technical fall and a pin in 1:50 at 160 pounds.
Umer Khan at 170 won by fall in 32 seconds and in 1:45.
At 182 pounds, Brogan had a 15-0 win by technical fall against Newtown.
Bannon pinned in 35 seconds at 195 pounds versus Enfield.
Billy Ives at 220 scored pins in 1:32 and 2:09.
Pat Rescanski pinned in 1:39 in the heavyweight division in the Enfield match.
Foran (27-3) is off until Saturday, Feb. 2, when it hosts the Foran Duals.
