Wrestling: Foran pins past Shelton (Updated)

Foran’s wrestling team won 11 of 14 bouts to topple host Shelton 57-14 on Thursday night.

The Lions improved to 21-4 overall, and handed the Gaels only their fifth loss in 17 matches.

The Lions won six of their competitions via pin behind the efforts of Ryan Luth in the 126-pound weight division, Patrick Fitzgerald at 145, Richard Kratzer at 170, Colby Stuart at 182, Nick McQuade in the 195-pound weight division, and Luke Edmonson in the 285 division.

Some of the matches went down to the wire – and then some in the case of one competition. Edmonson pinned Kyle Tobin with just three-tenths of a second remaining in the third period, and Foran 152-pound grappler Qasim Khan prevailed 10 seconds into overtime when he took down counterpart Daniel Persson for a 10-8 win.

Additionally, 160 pound Foran wrestler Noah Hubler earned a hard-fought 2-1 decision over Delonne Sloan.
