Wrestling: Foran High advances four at State Open

Foran High will have four wrestlers still seeking State Open titles when the tournament resumes Saturday in New Haven.

Luke Edmondson, the No. 1 seed in the heavyweight division, will meet eighth-seeded Desmond Washington from Trumbull High in the quarterfinals. Edmondson won his first match by fall in 1:15.

At 113 pounds, fifth-seeded Gino Esposito will wrestle Trumbull High’s sixth-seeded Tristan Haviland in the quarters. Esposito won his first bout 10-4.

At 132 pounds, eighth-seeded Ryan Luth will wrestle top-seeded Tim Kane from Fairfield Warde in the quarterfinals. Luth advanced with a 17-1 win by technical fall in 3:50.

At 145 pounds, third-seeded Michael Ross will wrestle Ed Lovely, the sixth seed from Newtown High in the quarterfinals. Ross won his first bout by tech fall, 15-0.

At 170 pounds, eighth-seeded Qasim Khan is still active in the consolation round. After losing his first bout, Khan won 7-4. He’ll meet No. 16 Ryan Gervais from Griswold in his next match.

At 160 pounds, eighth-seeded Noah Hubler will meet 16th-seeded Jacob Graves from New Britain in his consolation round bout.
