The Foran High wrestling team prepped for its important SCC Division I home match with Shelton High this coming Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. by sweeping its quad at Waterford on Friday.

Coach Dave Esposito’s Lions improved its record to 22-3 with victories over Coventry (R.I.), 55-20, Westerly, (R.I.), 75-6, and Waterford, 59-24.

Going into the bout with the Gaels (18-1), Foran’s grapplers have posted fine individual records.

Ryan Luth is 27-1, Gino Esposito 26-2, Michael Ross 19-2, Luke Edmondson 25-3, Noah Hubler 25-3, Jubilee Witte 24-4, Qasim Khan 22-7, Colby Stuart 18-8, Will Mauro 15-12, Elijah Moretti 16-12, Ronnie Gaul 13-12, Patrick Grinder 11-11 and Michael Giordano 13-14.

In the match with Coventry, the Lions put the decision away by winning the final four bouts. Witte at 132 pounds (1:32 pin), Luth at 138 (12-2 major decision), Ross at 145 (1:46 pin) and Umer Khan (forfeit at 152) had the victories.

Giving Foran the 32-20 advantage were Hubler (1:31 pin at 160), Qasim Khan (21-second pin at 170), Charles Cornell (forfeit at 182), Nick Zavaglia (3:17 pin at 195), Edmondson (forfeit at heavyweight) and Gino Esposito (7-3 decision at 113).

Winning on the mat in the win over Westerly were Giordano (3:22 pin at 106), Witte (1:23 pin), Luth (15-0 technical fall), Ross (16-0 tech fall), Umer Khan (3:32 pin) and Hubler (18-3 tech fall).

Foran turned to the pin to dispatch Waterford, as it won nine of the bouts by fall.

Grinder (2:53 at 220), Edmondson (1:01), Gino Esposito (1:50), Moretti (1:30 at 126), Luth (2:16), Witte (38 seconds), Ross (49 seconds), Hubler (1:39) and Qasim Khan (1:05) recorded the pinfalls. Mauro won by 16-0 technical fall at 120.
