Southern Connecticut Conference fall playoff schedule

The Southern Connecticut Conference has released its fall playoff schedule.

The boys and girls cross country championships will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Hammonasset State Park in Madison. The race schedule: 1 p.m.: Boys Freshman; 1:40 p.m.: Girls Varsity; 2:20 p.m.: Girls Freshman; 3 p.m.: Boys Varsity; 3:40 p.m.: Girls Junior Varsity; 4:20 p.m.: Boys Junior Varsity. The defending champions are Mercy High from Middletown (girls) and Fairfield Prep (boys).

The boys and girls soccer playoffs begin with quarterfinal round games at the site of the higher seeded team on Saturday, Oct. 25. The semifinals will be held at the higher seed on Oct. 27, with time to be determined. The championship games will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at East Haven High. The girls match is at 5:30 and the boys game at 7:30. Guilford High in the defending girls champion, Xavier High of Middletown the boys.

The field hockey quarterfinals will be played on Saturday, Oct. 25, at a time to be determined at the site of the higher seeded team. The semifinals will be held on Monday, Oct. 27, at a time to be determined at Daniel Hand High in Madison. The title game is set for Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m at Daniel Hand. Cheshire High is the defending champion.

The girls volleyball first round will be played at a time to be determined at the higher seeded team on Saturday, Oct. 25. The quarterfinals are at the higher seeds at a time to be determined on Monday, Oct. 27. The semifinals will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at a time to be determined at the higher seed. The title match will be played on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. at North Haven High. Cheshire High is the defending champion.

Girls swimming trials will be held on Monday, Oct. 27, at 4 p.m. at North Haven High (Div. I); and at Hamden High (Div. II). Diving will be held at 5 p.m. onTuesday, Oct. 28, at Hamden High. The championship meet will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. at Southern Connecticut State University. Cheshire High is the defending champion.
