Softball: Kemp, Foran edge Mercy

Dani Kemp's solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning proved to be the difference, as Foran High clipped visiting Mercy, 6-5, on Monday afternoon.

The Lions led the SCC interdivision contest 5-0 after two full innings, but the Tigers (1-2) rallied back to within a run following a three-run homer by Madison DeRita and an RBI single from Juliana DellaCamera in the top of the fourth.

Kemp then ripped a solo shot to left field leading off the bottom of the fourth, before DeRita singled and scored on DellaCamera's RBI single in the top of the sixth. But, Foran ace Jessica Harkness retired the top of Mercy's lineup in order to close out the game in the seventh.

Kemp went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs for Foran (2-0). Ashley Mendillo added a two-run single and Kayla Gosselin and Fallon Bevino RBI singles.
