The Jonathan Law track teams will be hosting the Sheri Katzmartsic Invitational at the Law track on Friday, May 3 beginning at 4 p.m.

The event is named in honor of Katzmartsic, who passed away in September, 2009 from colon cancer.

She was a star athlete at Law, participating in swimming and track before graduating in 1992.

Katzmartsic led the Law girls track team to a 50-9 record during her four years when the team won four consecutive league titles.

She took many individual honors at league championship meets competing in the 100-meters, 200-meters, long jump and 4x100.

All the teams participating in the meet will be from the former CCIAC League, which Law competed in during Katzmartsic’s career.

The meet will feature the best athletes from Law, Foran, Lauralton Hall, Platt Tech, Stratford, Bunnell and Notre Dame of Fairfield.
