SCC swim and diving: Locals earn multiple titles
Foran High’s Emma Longley won the Southern Connecticut Conference diving championship on Nov. 3.
Longley’s score of 378.55) was best in the competition.
The Lions’ Sarah Fitzgerald was first in the SCC in the 100 breaststroke at the league meet in New Haven on Nov. 4.
Fitzgerald time of 1:07.94 helped coach Kristen Skuches’ team finish 12th overall.
Cheshire High was the team champion, followed by Lauralton Hall, Amity of Woodbridge and Daniel Hand-Madison.
Lauralton’s Kaitlyn Joy (1:00.32) won the 100 backstroke and was second in the 50 freestyle (24.96).
Elizabeth Sargent won the 200 intermediate medley (2:10.94) and was second in the 100 butterfly (59.40).
Katherine Begg won the 100 freestyle (54.50) and was fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:19.81).
Brenna McLaughlin was second in the 200 freestyle (1:58.27) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:17.55).
Dakota Meyer was third in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.60) and fifth in the 200 IM (2:13.82).
Catherine Woods was fourth (2:10.07).
The Crusaders’ Joy, Meyer, Sargent and Madyson Barnick were first in the 200 medley relay (1:51.62).
Barnick, Shannon Buttling, Begg and Joy won the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.08).
