Ryan Luth from Foran High placed fourth in the 120-pound weight class at the New England wrestling tournament in North Andover (Mass.) on Saturday.

Foran High (23) placed 29th in the team competition, won by Mt. Anthony, Vt. (122.5). Newtown High (84) was second, Fairfield Warde (69) third and Danbury (51.5) sixth.

The third seed from Connecticut, Luth  won his first two matches, then dropped to wrestlebacks, where the freshman won three more bouts before losing to Connecticut champion Kyle Lindner from New Milford in the consolation finals.

Luth pinned Jack Kiely, the fifth seed from Massachusetts in 1:43 to get into the first round, where he defeated Rhode Island champion Collin Cardoso 5-0.

Greg Zaw, the Massachusetts runner-up, and eventual fourth-place finisher, sent Luth to consolations by winning a 5-1 decision.

Luth ousted Devin Rivet, the third seed from Rhode Island, 4-1; Billy Wehring the third seed from Massachusetts 9-1, and then defeated Seth Ryan, the Rhode Island runner-up by 4:23 fall.

Luke Edmondson is the Connecticut runner-up in the heavyweight division, which allows wrestlers up to 285 pounds.

At 247 pounds, Edmondson opened New Englands with a 1-0 victory over Rhode Island runner-up Frank Cole.

In the quarterfinals, the senior lost by 3:50 fall to Massachusetts champion Owen Murray, who went on to win the title.

Damon Young, the Vermont champion who placed sixth, then defeated Edmondson by 3:25 fall.

Connecticut champion Chide Broderick from Xavier-Middletown placed fourth.
