Brianna Laggis, a sophomore at Foran High, won the all-around title with a 37.750 at the Level 10 state championships in Hartford this past weekend.

Laggis, age 15, earned Gold medals on vault (9.700) and balance beam (9.225), a Silver medal on uneven bars (9.475) and a Bronze medal on floor exercise (9.350).

She has now qualified for the Region 6 Championships, where she will compete against the top gymnasts in seven states with an opportunity to qualify for Nationals in Texas in May.

Laggis has been involved in gymnastics since she was 2 years old and has been competing since she was 7 years old. She has been a Level 10 gymnast since she was 12.

A first honors student, Laggis is working hard to reach her long-term goal of obtaining a Division I college scholarship.

She trains approximately 20 hours a week at Connecticut Gymnastics Academy, under the coaching of Brock Freehling and Dawn Albon.
