The Milford Combined High School fencing team held its final tournament of the year on March 21, at Foran High School, wrapping up a banner inaugural season of competition.
After 42 hard-fought bouts, the women’s championship was won by Foran junior Michaela Smith, followed by Law freshman Isabela Roldan taking the silver medal, and Foran senior Barbara Clayton winning the bronze.
In the men’s division, freshman Andrew Hiza narrowly defeated junior Matt Jason to take the championship, with Jason taking the silver and Law senior James Thomas taking the bronze.
Coach Mark Kissinger congratulated every team member for displaying the highest levels of sportsmanship all season, and is already looking forward to building on this year’s success.
