Lynch scores four goals against top-ranked Prep

Ryan Lynch of Milford scored four goals and second-ranked Notre Dame of West Haven played top-ranked Fairfield Prep to a 4-4 hockey tie at the Wonderland of Ice on Jan. 4.

Notre Dame is 5-1-1 and Prep is 3-2-1.

Prep is 3-2-1 and NDWH 5-1-1.

Lynch, assisted by brother Kyle, gave coach Tim Belcher’s Green Knight’s a 1-0 lead at 3:23 of the opening period.

Matt Wikman scored for Prep at 8:56 of the first to forge a 1-1 tie. Justin Blanchette had the assist.

Ryan Lynch’s unassisted tally at 1:12 of the second period put Notre Dame on top, before Prep’s Kenny Kochiss from Wikman made it 2-2.

Prep took a 3-2 lead on Wikman’s tally at 12:20 of the second, with Dean Lockery and Kochiss earning assists.

Ryan Lynch scored off a Matt Dumas assist at 1:01 of the third period to level the game, and gave ND a 4-3 lead with an unassisted goal at 2:17.

Kochiss scored for coach Matt Sathers’ Jesuits at the 6:21 mark of the third to even things at 4. Brendan Killoy and Wikman had the assists.

Wade Conlan 38 for Notre Dame and Matt Beck had 37 saves for Prep.
