C.J. Luth of Foran High placed fourth at the New England Wrestling Championships in the 138-pound class in Providence, R.I. on Saturday.
Luth, the State Open and Class M champion, drew a first round bye and then won an 8-2 decision over New Hampshire third seed Peter Shea in the second round.
The senior then earned a 9-7 victory over Rhode Island champion Serge Bouyssou to gain the semifinals.
Maine champion Danny DelGallo, who went on to place second, knocked Luth into the consolation round with a 10-4 decision.
Luth scored a 7-0 decision over Jake Strohman from East Longmeadow (Mass.) to gain the consolation finals, where Rhode Island runner-up Aaron Tavares was awarded a medical forfeit.
Foran’s Clay Callahan, the Class M champion and second-place finisher in the State Open, also drew a first round bye.
The senior pinned Vermont runner-up Kyle Record in 2:00 before losing a 7-4 decision to Rhode Island champion Andrew LaBrie, who went on to win the New England title.
In the consolation bracket, Callahan dropped a 3-2 decision to Fritz Hoehm, the Massachusetts runner-up, who took fourth.
