Leone leads Law to pair of victories

Amanda Leone hit a grand-slam home run to key a seven-run first inning when the Jonathan Law softball team defeated Wilbur Cross of New Haven, 13-0, in Milford on April 26.

Jenna Bernard pitched a six-hitter with 11 strikeouts for coach Melanie Paolini’s Eagles (6-4).

Stephanie Cameron had three hits.

Law knocked off Cheshire High, 2-0, on April 24.

Bernard allowed the Rams (7-3) only three hits.

Erin Saley singled in the top of the sixth inning and scored the game’s first run when Stephanie Peloso’s grounder was misplayed.

Bernard singled home Peloso.

Leone had a single, a double and a triple when Law defeated Hamden High, 12-4, on April 29.

Justin Bannon had a triple and Cameron a double to lead the 13-hit attack.
