Branford pounded out 13 hits en route to a 13-5 road victory over Milford Post 196 on Sunday afternoon at Ken Walker Field.

With the victory, Branford (11-1) finished off a weekend sweep over Milford to remain atop the Zone II standings alongside Stratford (10-1).

Ben LaCroix had four hits, three runs scored and two RBIs to lead the offensive onslaught.  Devin Derenzo added three hits, four runs scored and two RBIs, while Trevor Brown and Tyler Criscuolo notched two hits apiece. Every one of Branford's starters reached base at least once.

Milford (5-7) managed just four hits off of Branford pitchers Michael Keinz, Jack Spencer and David Caron. Colin Firmender and Jeremiah Bravo, Post 196's starter, had RBI singles.

Branford knocked around Bravo in the first inning, scoring five runs on five hits. After retiring the side in order in the second, LaCroix tripled off of Bravo to start the third and Caron's RBI fielder's choice.

Mark Wooten relieved Bravo in the fourth and kept Milford within striking distance for awhile.

After a throwing error by Criscuolo allowed two runs to score in the third, Milford scored three times in the fifth, as Bravo, Firmender and Nick Tuozzola, who hit a sacrifice fly, drove in runs to narrow the gap to 7-5.

Branford responded by sending 11 batters to the plate, the second time in the game it batted around, and scoring four insurance runs in the sixth, before adding two more in the seventh.

Milford takes on Orange (8-4) on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Brinley Field.
