The Jonathan Law softball team opened its season with an 18-0 five-inning mercy-rule victory over visiting Wilbur Cross from New Haven on Wednesday.

Aubrey Bepko and Erin Harrigan combined on a two-hitter for coach Melanie Paolini’s Eagles.

Amanda Leone was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and four runs scored for Law, which scored four runs in the first, eight in the third and six in the fourth.

Justine Bannon (two doubles), Erin Saley and Gege Romero were each 2-for 3 for Law. Cassidy Boath had a double.

Kayla Melendez had both hits for Cross.
