Law defeats Platt Tech in early-season meet

The Jonathan Law boys and girls track teams posted victories over Platt Tech on Friday.

The Lawmen defeated the Panthers 90-58, while the Eagles won out 137-9.

Jeremy Douchette, Jason Baker, Bryan Creevy and Eric Kogan won the 4x800 relay in 9:19.

Terrence Lewis, Ryan Dennis, Jason Garlock and Zach Toto were first in the 4x100 relay with a time of 45.3.

Josh Paton, Douchette, Lewis and Dennis won the 4x400 relay in 3:50.4.

Efrain Negron was best in the javelin (103-7), Nick Casagrande took the shot put (40-4) and Mark Thibault the pole vault (11-0).

Douchette was first in the 1600 (5:01.2), Toto the 400 (52.8) and Lewis the long jump (19-7).

Isaiah Otero won the 800 (2:19.5), Dennis the 200 (24.0) and Thibault the triple jump (31-3).

Tech’s Carlos Urena won the 100 high hurdles (17.1) and the 300 hurdles (45.6)  and Zatrell Lyons the 100 (11.8).

For the Law girls, Rachel Escobar, Kayla Patrick, Zoe Taylor and Destiny Jennings were first in the 4x800 relay in 11:50.

Catie Miller, Sarah Gambardella, Jennings and Caitlin Prete were best in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:39.9.

Gambardella was first in the 100 hurdles (18.6), Tiffany Coleman won the 100 (13.2), Valerie Hiller the 1600 (5:59.5) and Shaina Jennings the 400 (1:10).

Prete was first in the 800 (2:36.3), Gambardella the 300 hurdles (52.8) and Hiller the 3200 (12:57.5).

Jessica Centore won the 200 (28.3) and the long jump (14-1), and Melissa Lanzaro took the pole vault (6-0) and the high jump (4-6).

Kelsey Kopazna  was best in the discus (72-7) and the shot put (27-3).

Cori Kalafus won the javelin (97-5) and Coleman the triple jump (30-4).

Tech’s Elani Rafeal, Skippy Rodgers, Kaitlyn Rodgers and Nicole Allen were first in the 4x100 relay (60.4).
