The Jonathan Law baseball team scored three runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings when the second-seeded Lawmen defeated No. 18 New London, 10-2, in a Class L second round state tournament game in Milford on Tuesday.
Law (20-4) will next play host to No. 7 Darien, a 5-3 winner over No. 10 Avon High, in Friday’s quarterfinals.
Richie Dow pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning and took a shutout into the seventh inning, where the Whalers (11-11) put three hits together to score twice.
Kevin Johnson had the game’s biggest hit, a two-run home run to left-center to cap Law’s three-run rally in the fifth.
Jake Rouse and Dow had consecutive RBI doubles in the sixth.
