Lauralton Hall opened its softball season with a 4- victory over Trumbull High on Wednesday.

Jess Napolitano had two RBIs and Jackie Brewster and Rachel Landock one each..

Lauralton took a 2-0 lead in the first inning before Trumbull scored in the top of the third.

The Crusaders tacked on two more runs in the fifth.

Haley Congdon, who struck out five and walked one, got the win.

“This was Haley’s first outing and she was poised and settled right in,” said Lauralton coach Theresa Napolitano, who will retire at the end of the season.

“This is a young team, with five sophomores starting, so we’ll go through some growing pains.

“We were hitting the ball right on the line.”
