Lacrosse: Mauro's overtime goal lifts Lions past Law

Foran High’s Will Mauro scored a goal in overtime and the Lions defeated Jonathan Law, 9-8, in an SCC boys lacrosse match at Lawmen Stadium on Thursday.

Ethan McVoy scored four goals for coach Brian Adkins’ Lions (4-6).

Hayden Hulme had three goals and an assist for Mike Forget’s Lawmen (4-6).

“Law played a great game, but my guys battled through,” Adkins said. “Sean O’Connor played an amazing game in the goal and Will was able to get his hands free to score in overtime.”

The rivals were tied at two after one period, before the Lawmen took a 6-4 lead into the half.

The Lions knotted things at 7-all after three, and the teams traded fourth-period goals.

Foran’s Ryan DeMarco had two goals. Zac Cleary and Nick DeBiase scored one goal each. Mauro had two assists.

For Law, Cole Egersheim and Santiago Palacio had two goal apiece. Cobi Casey had a goal and Jake Bombace an assist.

Law led in shots, 42-40.

O’Connor had 19 saves.

Law’s Brett Pisani made 15 stops.
