Kasey Butts, Bryan Creevy draw raves

Casey Butts and Bryan Creevy from Jonathan Law were two of 14 student-athletes from seven high schools named The SportsCenter of Connecticut/Southern Connecticut Conference Scholar Athletes of the Month for September.
Now in its seventh year, The SportsCenter of Connecticut/SCC Scholar Athlete of the Month program will honor outstanding young men and women each month during the 2012-13 academic year.

A four-year starter and captain on the girls soccer team, Butts has been a standout in the classroom.

Recognized for her outstanding play on the field, Butts has been named to the All-Hammonassett team each of her first three seasons.

Jonathan Law athletic director Mike Hoggatt said: “Kasey has been a four-year starter for the Jonathan Law soccer team. She is a true leader on the soccer field and in the classroom.”

A member of the boys soccer team, Creevy ranks in the top 20 percent of his graduating class with a 3.29 grade point average. He has been named to the honor roll each of his first three years at Law.

Hoggatt said: “Bryan has worked hard over the past four years to earn a varsity spot on the boys soccer team, and has turned out to be a great leader.”
Student athletes who are selected must be a varsity letterwinner and have a 3.0/B average while demonstrating leadership qualities.
“Many thanks to the Sports Center of Connecticut for its support of the SCC and the Scholar Athlete of the Month program,” SCC Commissioner Al Carbone said.
“This conference has been proud of its success for the last 18-plus years, and to be able to recognize outstanding young men and women who demonstrate the desire and ability to succeed solidifies what the SCC is all about.”
