The Milford Post 196 Junior Legion baseball team was swept in a doubleheader by visiting East Haven on Sunday afternoon, losing 13-1 and 15-3 at Ken Walker Field.

East Haven improved to 6-5 following the sweep, while Milford tumbled to 2-12.

Steven Reynolds led Post 89 in game one, ripping a double and a triple and driving in four runs. He was also hit twice by pitches, reaching base in four of his five plate appearances. Nick Carbone added a two-run single and scored two runs, while Chris Affinito chipped in with two hits, one RBI and one run scored.

Right-hander Michael D’Onofrio pitched a complete-game five-hitter for East Haven, striking out seven and walking three.

Kevin Connors drove in the lone run for Milford with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth inning, while Jacob Reed went 2-for-2 with a walk.

Austin Lieto’s RBI infield single in the top of the second inning gave the 89ers a 1-0 advantage and it struck for three more runs in the top of the third — keyed by Reynolds’ two-run double to deep left-center field.

Run-scoring hits by Affinito and Reynolds fueled East Haven’s four-run fourth inning, pushing its lead to 8-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

Milford’s Nick Tuozzola led off with a double, advanced to third on an error, then scored when Connors lifted a fly ball to center field.

Tyler Stevens and Stephen Giambra had base hits for Milford over the next three frames, but it wasn’t nearly enough to unseat the Easties.

Post 89 scored two more runs in the sixth on a Milford throwing error and a wild pitch, before scoring three times in the top of the seventh to complete the 13-1 romp.

In game two, East Haven plated eight runs in the top of the first inning en route to a 15-3 victory.
