High school update

Courtney Mustante scored a goal in the second half when the Foran High girls soccer team played Bunnell High to a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Coach Casey Blake’s Lions improved to 2-7-3. Abigail Lucas had five saves. Foran lost a 3-1 decision to Amity High (9-2-1) on Monday. Yasmine Lingane scored a first-half goal for the Lions.

Law girls soccer

Jonathan Law lost 2-1 to Mercy of Middletown on Monday. Jocelyn Wirth scored the goal for coach JD Rhode’s Lady Lawmen. Jillian Hall made 10 saves. Alessandra Fronc had 7 saves for Mercy.

Lauralton volleyball

Lauralton Hall defeated West Haven 3-1 in an SCC Housatonic Division volleyball match on Monday. The Crusaders (7-8, 3-4) dropped the first set 25-22 and then won the next three sets by the scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-18. Theresa Piscitelli had 15 kills, 9 digs and 2 aces.

Sydney O'Neil 5 kills; Maddi Marrone 10 digs; and Bella Milici 3 kills, 1 dig, 2 blocks. Anna Farruggio had 10 assists and Sklyar Wingate 14 assists. Lauralton lost 3-2 to a 12-4 Shelton squad on Saturday. Caroline Fabrizio had 4 aces, 5 digs and 6 service points. O’Neil had 4 aces, 5 digs 1 block and 10 service points. Piscitelli had 19 digs, 14 kills, 1 block, 1 assist and three service points. Lauralton lost in three sets to East Haven on Friday. Wingate had 2 aces, 5 digs, 2 blocks and 11 assists. Piscitelli had 2 kills and 8 digs. Abby Paine had 4 kills.

Law swimming and diving

Jonathan Law defeated East Haven/Wilbur Cross, 97-75, on Thursday. Lily Baldieri was a double winner for coach Molly Anderson’s Lady Lawmen. Winning the 200 medley relay were Brooke Nabors, Hennessey Shane, Emma Savoie and Baldieri. Savoie was first in the 200 IM, Christina Gleason bested the diving competition, Baldieri the 50 and 100 freestyle, and Athena Homorodean, Bridget Kinross, Hannah Rascoll and Shane the 200 freestyle relay.

Foran swimming and diving

Jordan Macdonald placed first in two events for coach Kristin Skuches’ Lions when Foran defeated Bunnell High, 93-72, in Stratford . Winning the 200 medley relay were Macdonald, Kaya Vital, Emma Bell and Ava Candido. Bell was first in the 200 freestyle, Macdonald in the 50 and 100 freestyle, Emma Fiorillo in the 500 freestyle and Jessica Anderson in the 100 backstroke.

Foran boys soccer

Foran High lost 1-0 to Guilford High. Luca Marinelli made three saves for coach Rick DiStefano’s Lions. Guilford’s Braden Stephene scored his goal in the 42nd minute. John Kosh made four saves for the Indians, who held a 4-3 edge in corner kick opportunities.
