Griswold leads locals at state meets

Nik Griswold captured the high jump title (6-2) and finished fourth in the long jump (20-03) at the Class M Boys Indoor Championships in New Haven on Feb. 7.

At the State Open on Monday, Griswold tied Taylor Stephen from Suffield High for sixth place at 6-0.

He tied Kevin Gorman from Newtown High for the 10th spot in the long jump at 19-10.

Steven Cugini was seventh in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:41.96, better than six seconds off his seed time.

Bob McGinnis, Joe Buzelle, Dan Kruger and Dan Anderton were 11th in the 4x400 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay.

Kevin Mastriano was 11th in the 1600 meter run, Anderton was 13th in the 600 meter run and Joshua Mixie was 20th in the 300 meter dash.

Ray Hofferman, McGinnis, Anderton and Mixie were 16th in the 4x200 meter relay.

Law boys team

Jon Lawless from Jonathan Law was fourth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.31, six seconds better than his seed time, at the Class M meet.

Lawless, a senior, also tied for 12th in the long jump.

Mick Murray, Tim Maher, Mark Thibault and Jason Garlock were 17th in the 4x200 meter relay.

Thibault tied for 12th in the pole vault and Nick Casagrande was 19th in the shot put.

Foran girls team

Kayla Gosselin from Foran High was ninth in the shot put with a throw of 30-06 at the Class M Girls Indoor Championships in New Haven on Feb. 7.

Sabrina Morgan was 17th in the 1000 meter run and Corissa Masciana was 37th in the 300 meter dash.

Law girls team

Jonathan Law’s Kiki Smith was sixth in the long jump at 15-11 at the Class M meet.

Olivia Steiner was ninth in the long jump, Danica Wens was 13th in the shot put and Bethany Edwards 15th in the 1600 meter run.
