Girls volleyball: Law defeats Foran Lions in four sets

Jonathan Law won the last three sets to earn a 3-1 (20-25, 25-11, 2515, 25-23) victory over visiting Foran High in the James Richetelli Sr. Gymnasium on Saturday.

Coach Stacy Loch’s Eagles improved to 7-5.

Coach Julie Johnson’s Lions are 6-6.

Foran won the first game, 25-20.

Amanda Mendillo had six service points to provide the Lions with an 11-5 lead.

Angelo Sciuto's no-look bump earned a side out for Law at 18-16, and Cassidy Boath served the Eagles even at 18.

Foran’s Viktoria Notholt stepped to the stripe at 20-20 and served four winners, including Caitlyn Parisi’s point at the net off of a return.

Lauren Notholt took Parisi’s pass and set Leah Teller for the game-winning point.

Law’s Olivia Keator served the Eagles to a 4-0 lead in game two, a set they controlled throughout.

Kristin Frank and Boath had three-point runs, before Colleen Goodwin tallied four points from the stripe for a 22-8 advantage.

Maggie Kelly came off the bench and scored the decisive point at the net.

In game three, Law took a 13-9 lead after one service rotation.

Keator’s four-point run that ended with an ace gave Law an 18-9 lead.

Two Foran hitting errors accounted for the last two points in the set.

Law took a 13-9 lead in the fourth game.

Sciuto and Goodwin had key points for the Eagles, before Mendillo served Foran back within 20-17.

After a trade of points through side outs, Foran's Lauren Notholt put three points together to tie the set at 23.

Sciuto’s kill got serve back for Law.

Frank’s dig carried over the net and was returned short, as Law posted the 25-23 win.
