The Jonathan Law girls track team crowned a pair of individual champions, and coach Linwood Schulte’s Eagles placed third, only two seconds away from team champion Avon High, at the Class MM Championships in Middletown on Wednesday.

Kiara Smith was champion in the 200-meter run with a time of 25.66. She took second in the 100 dash in 12.44.

Olivia Steiner was meet-best in the long jump at 17-2.75.

Jessica Centore placed second in the 400-meter run (59.88) and was third in the 200 (25.93).

Steiner, Melanie Coleman, Holly Caldwell and Smith placed second in the 4x100 relay with a time of 50.44. Berlin won in 49.71.

Shawna Winters was fourth in the discus throw at 103-10.

Coleman was sixth in the triple jump at 33-10.

Lauralton Hall’s Kathryn Kelly was first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.35, was second in the triple jump at 35-4, and tied for the second position in the high jump at 5-0, to lead the Crusaders to a ninth-place finish.

Mai LeMeur was sixth in the 100 hurdles (16.51).

Foran High’s Zinnia Hall was fifth in the javelin throw at 103-11.

The top eight finishers earn points for the team.

The top six medal and the top five move on to State Opens on June 6, at New Britain’s Willow Brook Park.
