Girls lacrosse: Lions edged by Pacers in overtime

Foran High lost a 12-11 overtime decision to Sacred Heart Academy in girls lacrosse action on Saturday.

Foran came from five goals down to lead 10-9 with 2:38 to play on a Taylor Wisniewski goal.

SHA then scored twice to go ahead with a 1:11 to play on goals by Laura Card on a free possession shot and a goal by Madie Blakeslee.

With time winding down, Foran got possession in its defense end when Erin Suech was fouled.

On the restart with nine seconds to play, Suech hit Eva Knudsen with a pass over midfield. She fed Sam O’Neill, who scored to tid the game with one second remaining.

In overtime, SHA won the draw and never lost possession before A.C. Luciani rolled around the crease and put home the game winner for SHA.

Coach Jack Conner’s Lions are now 5-8.

Wisniewski and Samantha O’Neill each scored three goals.

Julia Astram had two goals and three assists.

Kiara Kanlong and Suech each had a goal and an assist.

Knudsen had a goal and two assists.

Hannah Pouliot had an assist.

For SHA, Luciani had five goals and Card three.
