Girls lacrosse: Foran High returns solid nucleus
The Foran High girls lacrosse team returns 10 starters from a year ago, when coach Jack Connors’ Lions posted four wins in its first season of playing at the varsity level.
Foran’s top three scorers are back: junior co-captain Julia Astram, who will play attack/middie, junior co-captain Hannah Pouliot (middie) and junior Kiara Kanlong (attack).
“My two top defenders are junior Parker Callahan and sophomore Erin Suech,” Connors said.
“Shea Phelan started as a freshman last year as a first time lacrosse goalie, I look for more improvement and growth in her game.
We are in tier three again this season for the SCC and placed in Class M for the CIAC.
“We should be very competitive with all of the tier three teams in the SCC — Law, Lyman Hall, Sheehan and Shelton. As a team I am looking to improve our play and our record. The overall goal for us is to qualify for states.
“One of my players from last season, Kali Borden, is playing lacrosse and soccer for the Coast Guard Academy.
"Kali was my captain for Foran the last two season and a great role model. She never played lacrosse prior to when we started as only a JV team two years ago. Kali was a four-year letter-winner and honors student.”
