Girls basketball: SHA edges Law Eagles, 45-42

Fallon Andriolas' last-second three-point shot came up short on Friday night as the Jonathan Law girls baskeball team dropped a 45-42 decision to Sacred Heart Academy in a Southern Connecticut Conference intra-divisional game held in Hamden.

Earlier in the final quarter, Andriolas hit a 3-pointer to give Law a 38-38 tie, before the Sharks pulled away down the stretch to even their record at 1-1.

Law led by as many as 10 points (19-9) early on and eventually saw that lead fade away. The Eagles are now 0-2. They were beaten by Brookfield, 53-46, also on the road, last Monday night.

Andriolas led Law in scoring with 13 points.

Samara Thacker added 11 and Cali Jolley chipped in with 10.

The Sharks got 13 points from Alek Koziol and 11 each from Claudia Capozzo and Gabby Koziol.

"We made our share of mental mistakes tonight that cost us at  times," said Law coach Dan Young. "But it's better that it happens in December rather than in February."
