Girls basketball: Law sinks Guilford in OT

Erin Saley scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Jonathan Law girls basketball team a 56-52 SCC Hammonasset Division victory over Guilford High at the James Richetelli Sr. Gymnasium on Friday night.

Izzy Nerney's 3-pointer gave Guilford a 52-51 edge with 1:46 left in OT, but Saley responded by sinking a brace of foul shots with 90 seconds to put the Eagles ahead for good.

Paige Szygiel and Jessica Centore knocked down free throws down the stretch to seal the victory for Law (6-2), which snapped a two-game losing streak.

Centore added 19 points and Laura Dulin 13, as Dulin, Centore and Saley combined for 54 of Law's 56 points.

The Eagles made just two field goals in the fourth quarter and overtime, but connected on 15-of-26 from the foul line to turn aside the Indians (6-2).

Saley forced overtime by hitting two free throws with 5.6 seconds left in regulation.
