Eastern Connecticut State University women’s softball second baseman Gina Georgetti out of Foran High was named Little East Conference Player of the Week, as part of the Little East Conference weekly spring awards program, released Monday.

Georgetti, a sophomore, sparked the softball team to a 6-0 week which ran Eastern’s (13-3) winning streak to seven.

Georgetti drove in a team-high nine runs and also scored seven.

Georgetti had two doubles, two triples and two home runs during the week and batted .533 as Eastern remained undefeated up north and won for the ninth time in the last ten outings.

Georgetti had her first career extra-base hits in a doubleheader sweep of Trinity College with two triples, a double and home run.

In the opening game, she tied the Eastern record with two triples and in the nightcap drove in three runs.

In a weekend sweep of UMass Boston, Georgetti drove in six runs with three hits, including a double and home run, and also cleanly handled 13 of 14 defensive chances last week.

In 14 games this year, Georgetti is batting .360 with an .840 slugging percentage and just one strikeout.
