The Foran High girls lacrosse team went on the road to defeat Tolland High, 12-10, in a Class M state qualifying round game on Saturday.

It was the program’s first win in states.

Coach John Connors’ 20th-seeded Lions (8-9) will visit No. 4 Branford High (12-4) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Foran took an 8-5 lead at the half against 13th-seeded Tolland (9-8).

Samantha O’Neill scored four goals, including the 100th of her career, and had an assist.

Hayley Byers scored four goals.

Hailey McGinnis, Julia Astram, Cassie Bennett and Emily Kwalek also scored goals.

Astram had two assists.

Eva Knudsen, Bennett, Kwalek and Erin Suech had one assist each.

Shea Phelan stopped 11 shots.

Aly Boungianno had two goals and an assist for Tolland.

Lauren Janton and Taylor Allen each had two goals.
