Foran swim to Law volleyball
The Foran High girls swim team evened its record at 1-1 with a 91-69 victory over Seymour High on Sept. 14.
Janel Crespo, Hannah Johnson, Cara Dube and Alexandra Corsi won the 200 medley relay (2:10.03.
Crespo added individual first in the 200 freestyle (2:11.85) and 500 freestyle (5:54.40).
Dube was best in the 200 IM (2:24.28) and 100 backstroke (1:05.78).
Sarah DeLuke took first in the 100 freestyle (1:01.04).
The Lions swept the relays.
Johnson, Corsi, Valerie Mackin and Makaila Cavender won the 200 freestyle relay (1:55.56) and Erica Hanson, Crespo, Dube and Mackin were best in the 400 freestyle relay (4:13.90)
Foran opened its season with a 116-69 loss to Sacred Heart Academy from Hamden on Sept. 12.
Crespo placed first in the 100 butterfly (1:04.67) and 100 backstroke (1:04.88).
Law boys cross country
Chris Burnham from Jonathan Law placed eighth with a time of 19:06 at the Neubauer Cross Country Invitational in Wallingford on Sept. 13.
The Lawmen placed third behind Daniel Hand of Madison and host Sheehan High.
Jeremy Douchette (19:12) from Law was ninth.
Foran boys soccer
Justin Kassouf’s goal in the 68th minute lifted the Lions to a 2-1 victory over Lyman Hall of Wallingford in a Southern Connecticut Conference opener interdivision game in Milford on Sept. 14.
The Lions (1-1) took the lead in the first half on Chris McQuade’s goal off an assist from Cedric Lingane at the 29-minute mark.
Lyman Hall tied things before Kassouf tallied, assisted by Julian Yuliawan.
Addie Redzepatic made five saves.
The Crusaders defeated Bunnell of Stratford, 98-80, on Sept. 14.
Mary Spillane, Megan Collins, Alena Sowka and Autumn Katz placed first in the 200 medley relay (2:00.75).
Mary Spillane was best in the 200 IM (2:15.50) and 100 butterfly (1:01.85).
Emily Collins took the diving competition (140.08).
Julia Spillane was first in the 500 freestyle (6:00.89) and Megan Collins first in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.16).
Kathleen Brennan, Elizabeth Sargent, Julia Spilane and Kaitlyn Joy won the 400 freestyle relay (4:04.66).
Girls cross country
Catie Miller placed second with a time of 22:08 to lead Law to a second-place finish ast the Neubauer Invitational in Wallingford on Sept. 13.
Lyman Hall won the event, followed by Law and Foran High.
Law’s Destiny Jennings (24:58) placed ninth and Julia Maurer (25:00) was 10th.
Kelly Quinn was third overall with a time of 22:34 for Foran.
The Lions’ Taneya McLaughlin (23:42) was fourth and Colleen Chrzanowski (23:58) was fourth.
TheCrusaders defeated visiting New Fairfield, 2-1, in its season opener.
Morgan Quinn scored a goal in each half for the Crusaders, with Alyssa Fratarcangeli notching two assists and Melissa Ulbrick one.
Emma McCarthy made four saves.
Quinn scored two goals and Ali Miles and Sarah Haselkamp one each when the Crusaders defeated Oxford High, 4-0, on Monday.
Haselkamp and Quinn notched two assists apiece and Suzanne Lema had one.
Law boys soccer
The Lawmen lost a 5-1 decision at Hamden High in its season opener on Tuesday.
Sam DaSilva scored a goal and Jack Campbell made 14 saves for the Lawmen.
The Eagles lost their season opener, 3-0, to visiting Amity of Woodbridge.
Colleen Bogucki set the attack with 16 assists in the 25-18, 25-23, 25-20 match.
Caitlin Prete was tops on defense with 16 digs.
Jessica Ruiz had 13 digs and five kills.
