Foran spikers sweep way into Class M quarterfinals

The Foran High girls volleyball team defeated Nonnewaug High, 3-0 (26-24, 25-12, 25-16) in a Class M second round state tournament match in the Edna Fraser Gymnasium on Wednesday.

Coach Julie Johnson’s fifth-seeded Lions (15-5) will play at No. 4 Woodland Regional (17-4) in the quarterfinals on Friday at 6 p.m.

Jenna Zacarelli had 33 assists, Janae Owen nine kills and Kelly Hunt eight kills in the win over No. 12 Nonnewaug (10-7).
